Summer adventures...

It's been a long time since I've posted anything as we were quite busy house hunting in the spring and then moving locally in May before leaving for the US for the summer. It's hard to believe that it is nearly August and Caden will be starting SAS soon. Probably my next post will be Caden's first day of school with me in tears!

This summer was filled with fun things for everyone. Despite the challenges with domestic travel in the US the boys and I eventually made it to the Midwest. I got to spend some time with my friend, Holly, shopping in NYC and spent a lovely weekend with my sister and brother-in-law in Nyack, NY. Gemma made the trip over for 4 weeks and got first hand experience what life is like in the Knapp household during the summer...minimal sleep and long hours. My dad built a few more grain bins and both Caden and Beckett loved helping outside. They absolutely LOVED spending time on the farm. I hope to repeat our visit next summer...in fact Caden is already talking about it!

The boys and I drove up to Chicago to meet Michael for his first week of classes for his MBA at the University of Chicago in mid-June. It was also father's day weekend and Michael's parents joined us to celebrate an early birthday for him. We all went to a Cubs game and enjoyed a beautiful day in Chicago together. Michael hit the big 40! He makes 40 look good, huh?! :)

I spent as much time as possible with Racheal over the summer. I got to spend some time with she and Ben on their farm in Missouri. It was very relaxing hanging out and sleeping in...my favorite things to do! We took a trip to Kansas City to see a Tom Petty concert too...he is amazing in concert. It's hard to believe he's in his 50s.

The boys enjoyed the fireworks at the 4th of July, the Davis County Fair, camping in the back yard, spending a few days with Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Knapp and eating their first smores. In many ways it was more fun for me reliving my childhood and watching it through the boys' eyes the second time around. Racheal and I always enjoyed playing together in the country and it was nice to see 2 little boys having a similar experience. We are all looking forward to next summer! Thanks for the memories to all friends and family that we were able to see this summer!

To conclude my travels Holly came back with me to Singapore. It was so much fun having her visit! The boys loved her and still ask about her. We explored some new areas that I had never seen in Singapore. Our last weekend together was spent in the Philippines in Boracay at the beach. It was my first girls only beach trip and was absolutely fabulous! The weather was beautiful, the resort was amazing and the company even better. All good things must end though...Holly finally made it home after nearly 50 hours of traveling!

I am planning on starting a part time flexible job with Orientations. It is a relocation company in Singapore. I will be a consultant and will show new expats resources in Singapore. I think I will really enjoy this. It will be a small adjustment going back to work, but I'm thinking the biggest adjustment will be putting my baby (Caden) on the bus for PreK in a few weeks. Beckett will start a local program at Pat's Schoolhouse again on the 1st of October. I will hope to balance motherhood, wife, friend, co-worker and volunteer this fall!
