International Marathon in Cambodia
Michael and I traveled to Cambodia the first weekend in December to run the International 1/2 marathon around Ankor Wat. It was Michael's first experience doing this and he is ready to run another one! Maybe next year we can find one in Australia:)
It was a beautiful day and the scenery was amazing. There was a lot of crowd support and we met a lot of people from all over that were traveling for the event. We celebrated over pizza and red wine that night.
Our trip started off learning more about 'The Killing Fields' which is an unfortunate part of the history in Cambodia. We sat next to a woman on the flight who was returning for the first time since the mid 70s to visit her only living sister. All of the other members of her family were killed during Pol Pot's regime. The more I travel the more I am thankful to be an American and enjoy all of the liberties that we have. We left Cambodia with a stronger sense to support missions and education there.
PS. The photo of the woman is of her bringing home spiders from work to sell. I cannot imagine eating a spider, but many people do in Cambodia.
